Laura will share her personal insights as a performer and teacher, and present tools for integrating Alexander work into your musical practice, performance and pedagogy. Using individual movements and partnered activities, we will explore the Alexander principles of Body Use, the mind-body connection, and directing. Participants will also benefit from hands-on guidance to address unproductive habits of movement, excess tension, and playing injury issues.

Each week we will work with concrete ways of integrating AT concepts into your musical practice, supporting you in the lifelong endeavor of attaining your full potential as a musician. Knowledge of anatomy, healthy movements while playing, and procedures for self-care will give participants resources to apply to their particular instrument, creating a unique learning experience for each individual.

Examining and re-evaluating your approach to making music can be both rewarding and challenging for many reasons. This course is designed to be informative, practical, and enjoyable as participants explore their musicianship in a non-judgmental and positive group setting.
